When in Zambia eat like the Zambians
Fish and the vegetables included eggplant, spinach, onions
This is take out in Zambia. A typical selection of food: Fried Fish, chicken, vegetables (eggplant, spinach, onions), and nshima.
I didn’t try the fish; the chicken was good; the vegetables were barely tolerable; and nshima is the thickest, most bland substance on earth! Give me credit for trying!
Nshima is the most staple food in Africa. It is made from corn. They use their fingers to scoop any other food on their plate. Since it is so thick it is extremely filling so those who are hungry only need to eat a little bit to fill full.
Wow! That fish looks... interesting! So fun to see your pics.
ReplyDeleteOh My! I have a feeling you both may come back REALLY SKINNY!!!!
ReplyDeleteOnce in Hawaii we were traveling with my sister-in-law who was pregnant at the time. She was incredibly morning sick and hungry. We pulled over to a food shack on the side of the road that had a fish hatchery behind it. My sister-in-law thought the fish sounded good, so she ordered some. The cooks walked out the back door, caught a fish from the hatchery, and plopped the entire thing into a deep fryer! They served it as is, just like your picture! Sure is efficient, but not very appetizing! My sister couldn't eat a thing and practically threw up upon the sight of it. Maybe you'll learn to love it or get good at picking out the meat quickly! :-)
ReplyDeletethat is some crazy food! interesting what you get used to and love when you've grown up on it! cause I just can't understand choosing bland mush over potatoes and carrots from the crock pot!
